Description:
ATRIVIR is entecavir, a guanosine nucleoside analogue with selective activity against hepatitis B virus (HBV). The chemical name for entecavir is 2 – amino – 1,9 – dihydro – 9 – [(1S,3R,4S) – 4 – hydroxy – 3 – (hydroxymethyl) – 2 – methylenecyclopentyl] – 6H-purin – 6 – one, monohydrate.

Indication:
ATRIVIR is a Hepatitis B virus nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B in patients (with evidence of viral replication, and histologically documented active liver inflammation or fibrosis) not previously treated with nucleoside analogues. Chronic hepatitis B in patients with compensated liver disease (with evidence of viral replication, and histologically documented active liver inflammation or fibrosis) and lamivudine-resistance. Chronic hepatitis B in patients with decompensated liver disease.
